Double Occupancy: Baby A and Baby B

I am currently 6-1/2 months pregnant with identical twin girls! Honestly it has taken me just as long to mentally get from shock, being overwhelmed and total fear to a place of joy and excitement. Here is a brief summary of how we found out: It was my first trimester screening (I was 13 weeks to be exact) and just minutes after the tech started my ultrasound, she said "do you have multiples in your family?" at the same time I was looking at the screen seeing doubles, however I just thought it was some weird camera trick. I said no to her question which then prompted her to joyfully say "well there is now!" At that very moment it was like someone had sucker punched me in the stomach and I was left gasping for air, especially since I had an ultrasound 6 weeks earlier and never received any indication of twins. This was supposed to be a routine visit, I didn't even take my husband with me (which I regret because seeing the look on his face at that very moment would have been priceless). So...twin pregnancy...not the most pleasant experience. aside from the fact that all of the symptoms you can experience with one baby on board is now doubled, there are the weekly, yes weekly, doctor visits, constant talk of potential risks and complications, which all leads to constant anxiety...just loads and loads of fun.

But things are looking up, I've made it to the third trimester so I know longer feel so doomed which is exactly how I felt every time I left the doctor's office early on. I'm now ready to start planning, prepping and organizing for my two new bundles of joy that are coming my way! My wish list for twin essentials to follow.

Flower Girl Natural Hair Inspiration

Next weekend, me, my hubby and my little sweet stuff all have the  pleasure of participating in my cousins wedding as part of the wedding party! London will of course be one of the flower girls.  That being said, I have been brainstorming ideas of how to style her hair for the event because of course I will be keeping it in its natural curly state (no straightening over here, I don't care what the occasion!) Pinterest has been a fabulous resource.

Definitely think I'm leaning toward the fro with a bow/flower combination...way too cute and curly!

BE the Example

It is my life’s mission to live a life that my daughter can grow up to want to emulate. The idea is to BE the person that I ultimately want her to become. Raising a little girl in today’s society seems more challenging than ever. A lot of the messages out there are so inconsistent with some of the most basic values that were passed down to me from my mother: self-respect and dignity. Our young women seem to be lost in a sea of Basketball Wives, Love and Hip Hop and Real Housewives (this is putting it lightly).

However, there are positive examples out there. Superbowl 2013 showcased a few of these women brilliantly:

Beyonce

A Mother's Prayer

Dear Lord,
I don't want to be a good mom...
I want to be a GREAT mom.
Help me, Lord, to instruct with
PATIENCE;
to speak with KINDNESS;
to encourage with PEACE;
to discipline with SELF-CONTROL;
to heal hurt with GENTLENESS;
to desire what is GOOD;
to be FAITHFUL in all that I say...and do;
to live with JOY in my heart and on my lips;
and to LOVE...like there is no tomorrow.
Help me, Lord,to be the very BEST mom
that I can be...Amen.
